Jill Abramson said in an interview late Monday that she is in the planning stages of a new startup that will focus on one big story annually. It will be her first big move since she was fired as executive editor at The New York Times.

Speaking to NPR radio station WBUR, Abramson said she is working with entrepreneur and journalist Steve Brill and speaking to investors.

The goal, she said, is to dive deep on one story per year.

Abramson says she's working with Steve Brill on the startup. "He and I will be doing one big story a year." #wburff
