Lena Dunham's critically acclaimed HBO comedy has officially been renewed for Season 5

The news, announced Monday night by HBO president Michael Lombardo at the New York premiere, comes just a few days before Season 4 is set to kick off on the cable network

The renewal itself, of course, is no surpriseGirls was nominated for two Emmys last year (for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series), and continues to be a buzzy show — for better or worse — for HBO.
