Commercials aren’t real, you know, even those slick, pricey, emotional ones that will run in Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday. So dry your tears, you big softies, because it’s all make believe.

FirstBank, a Lakewood, Colorado, financial institution with a twisted sense of humor, isn’t afraid to mess with Big Game viewers to make a point. The company plans to launch two regional commercials on Sunday that pull out a bunch of tropes -– adorable boy, heartland setting, ruggedly handsome dad, tiny yellow Labrador! –- and then pull the rug out with an unexpected ending, all to hawk its free money transfer program.
