A 13-year-old boy who was trapped in a deadly blaze that engulfed a building in San Francisco's Mission District Wednesday night managed to smash a window and jump to safety
The four-alarm fire quickly tore through the three-story commercial building, killing one and injuring six. The damage ultimately left 54 people without homes, nine of them children, and damaged 15 businesses, according to the San Francisco Chronicle .
Alessandro Gonzales was able to make it onto the fire escape but got stuck outside the second floor. That's when he threw his dog, a mixed Shih Tzu-miniature poodle, down to waiting police officers before jumping down himself. His mother reportedly waited anxiously outside. Read more...
