With hotels full, Airbnb guests soar by 300% for Super Bowl host city

PHOENIX — Like a Hail Mary pass, some Super Bowl revelers tossed lodging plans at the last minute to the wind and landed in the arms of Airbnb hosts.


Local resident Sky King is one of those hosts who have opened their doors to the influx of travelers in need of lodging as hotels have had no vacancies for months now



Four New Yorkers are renting King's house and adjoining guest house for $1,000 per night, though Airbnb tells Mashable the average rate this week is between $200 and 400


Overall, Airbnb booking volume skyrocketed to 2.5 times higher than normal in the Greater Phoenix market, which includes Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa and Glendale — with ​number of guests jumping by 300% more than the normal figure versus this time last year Read more...
