A startup that aims to replace all food with a nutrient-rich gray sludge is getting a major boost.

Soylent announced Wednesday that the company has raised $20 million in a Series A round spearheaded by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz.

Soylent makes a powder-based slurry that it claims has all of the nutritional value of a normal meal, designed for people who don't want the hassle of preparing their own food. After months of hype, the company made its first commercial shipment in the spring of last year, and it is now backlogged with far more orders than it can handle.
