New York Knicks center Cole Aldrich left Wednesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder with a left shin contusion.
The Knicks' official public relations Twitter page relayed the details on Aldrich's injury:
Aldrich was the 11th overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft but was traded to the Thunder, where he played sparse minutes in two seasons.
As a member of New York's woeful squad this season, playing time has been limited for Aldrich, as he averaged 17 minutes per contest entering Wednesday's game. That doesn't bode well for his bid to ever live up to his gaudy draft status.
Whatever he lacks in overall production, Aldrich at least provides a rebounding threat, something the Knicks badly need. Without Aldrich in the rotation, coach Derek Fisher will have to get creative to help New York crash the boards.
