Authorities weigh criminal charges for ex-CIA Director David Petraeus

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department is weighing bringing criminal charges against former CIA Director David Petraeus over the handling of classified information, a U.S. official says.


Federal investigators have been looking into whether Petraeus provided classified information to his biographer, Paula Broadwell, with whom he admitted having an affair when he resigned from the CIA in 2012.


FBI officials discovered classified information on Broadwell's computer in 2012. The Army Reserve officer was under investigation at the time due to improper access to Petraeus' email, but Petraeus was not. Petraeus resigned from his position at the CIA due to the affair. Read more...
