Severe turbulence causes Air France flight to turn back to Paris

An Air France flight from Paris to New York experienced an unusually strong bout of turbulence while flying over England on Tuesday, causing passengers to scream, hold each others' hands and pray.

Four of the crew members were injured when the plane lost altitude about an hour into the flight; at this point, beverages were being served.

The pilots turned the plane around and flew back to Paris, where firefighters and paramedics met the aircraft when it landed at Charles de Gaulle Airport.
