One week, two hat-tricks, two all-time records.
Even by Lionel Messi 's standards, the past few days have been fairly special ones, but with Real Madrid extending their winning run to 16 matches on Saturday, the focus now has to switch to just how Barcelona are going to catch them up.
Messi , now the top scorer in both La Liga and Champions League history, and his teammates go to fourth-place Valencia on Sunday night five points adrift of Real and well aware that they can't allow that gap to get any bigger.
They've won their last four in all competitions, with Messi notching eight goals and Luis Suarez getting off the mark for the club with a strike in the Champions League victory at APOEL .
This will be no easy task for them, though, with Valencia unbeaten at home since April and set to move just a point behind Luis Enrique's side with a win.
It promises to be an interesting one, then, and I'll be back at at around 7 p.m. GMT/2 p.m. ET with all the buildup.
See you then.
