HONG KONG—So you thought the big street protests that began in Hong Kong late last month have fizzled and gone away? Think again.

Contrary to many people's expectations, the street protests in this Asian financial hub – complete with umbrellas, pro-democracy banners and blocked multi-lane thoroughfares – are very much alive and kicking.
