Yoko Ono Once Placed A Pair Of Scissors In Front Of Her. The One Instruction? 'Cut.'

A lot of us know Yoko Ono in many, many ways. (Some of us even know that she is a performance artist.) Have you ever seen one of her works? This video was taken in 1965, and it's an interesting look at the relationship between artist and viewer. Especially if the artist is a woman.

(Let's all note where the man at 1:14 places the scissors afterward in comparison to where the first two women left them.)

She performed this in London, New York, and in Kyoto, Japan — where a man dramatically raised the pair of scissors over her head because he could. If that doesn't tell you why this work is important to note, I don't know what is.

Original work of art: "Cut Piece" by Yoko Ono, 1965. Here's the full version of the performance. She performed it again in 2003, and I'll let you raise your own points about how people cut just as much today.
