An overwhelming majority of the 93,500 flights taking off around the globe every day make it to their destination safely. But for the handful of flights that run into problems, there are techniques and tips for passengers that will increase their odds of living to tell the tale.
British Airways is now offering a half-day course for 135 pounds (about $220) that gives travelers a chance to try out the techniques. Participants are seated on a Boeing 737 simulator and go through the safety demonstration, taxi and takeoff — at which point the cabin begins to fill with smoke and the passengers have to evacuate.
