There's a disturbing trend of people stealing private nude photos from female celebrities and splashing them all over the Internet and labeling them as "scandalous." What's even more upsetting is the victim-blaming conversations around these photos that essentially say, "Hey famous ladies, don't express your sexuality or else you're asking to be shamed and objectified!" This Twitter response to such a ridiculous argument left me trying to fist-pump and applaud at the same time.
A huge thank you to Twitter user Gurkeyrith for her permission to share her tweets, which succinctly expressed the problems with the September 2014 "scandal" of the hacked photos of Jennifer Lawrence, Victoria Justice, Kate Upton, Kirsten Dunst, and almost a dozen other celebrities. You can find more of her brilliant musings on Tumblr and Twitter. The thumbnail image photos via Thinkstock and Mingle MediaTV used under Creative Commons license.
