UK intellegence boss: U.S. tech firms command and control for terrorists

LONDON — Some U.S. technology companies are "in denial" about the misuse of the Internet by terrorists, the head of GCHQ has claimed.


Writing in London's Financial Times, Robert Hannigan, the director of UK intelligence and security organisation GCHQ, says services online "have become the command-and-control networks of choice for terrorists and criminals", and that security agencies need the support of large tech firms.



Citing a number of popular social media sites, Hannigan says that ISIS is the first terrorist group to grow up on the Internet, and they're "exploiting the power of the web". Read more...
