Uber is still struggling to build an Uber for goodwill


After a year full of reports about Uber's cutthroat tactics against competitors, CEO Travis Kalanick took the stage at TechCrunch Disrupt in September and tried to reintroduce himself to the media with a softer touch. He admitted that Uber had been "scrapping...hard" to get ahead and become a successful business, but said that strategy may not work now that Uber is so big.


"When people start to perceive you as the big guy, you’re not allowed to be scrappy, fierce," Kalanick said in the talk.
