Taylor Swift's sales for her fifth studio album 1989 are out of the woods and out of this world, particularly during the modern age of YouTube, digital downloads and streaming.

Swift sold 1.287 million copies from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2, making 1989 the first and only album released in 2014 to earn platinum status, the million-copies-sold milestone

1989 tops this week's Billboard 200, and it becomes only the 19th album in Nielsen SoundScan history, dating back to 1991, to sell one million copies within a week. Swift now owns three of those 19 albums with 1989, 2012's Red and 2010's Speak Now. Read more...
