The NFL has suspended star running back Adrian Peterson for the remainder of the 2014 season.
The ruling follows Peterson's plea of "no contest" to charges of misdemeanor reckless assault relating to a child abuse case involving one of his sons. The NFL Players Association said it will appeal the decision
Peterson had originally been charged with felony child abuse. The deal with prosecutors allows Peterson to avoid jail time, instead paying a $4,000 fine and doing 80 hours of community service.
The resolution of Peterson's case led to speculation that he could end up back on the field with the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. Instead, the NFL chose to rule Peterson out. Read more...
