LGBT magazine The Advocate names Putin its 'Person of the Year'

Here's one accolade that Vladimir Putin is unlikely to boast about.


The Advocate, the LGBT interest magazine, has named Russia's president its 2014 Person of the Year for his "crusade against LGBT Russians." The profile notes that Putin signed a bill in June 2013 criminalizing “distribution of information… aimed at the formation among minors of nontraditional sexual attitudes." As The Advocate notes, "nontraditional" in this case equals "anything other than heterosexual."
