Politicians and the media sure have a lot to say about female voters. Every time I turn on the news, it seems like there's another person trying to tell America what women want.
This is just my opinion, but I'm a little bit tired of that! Which is why I'm loving. this. song.
Press "Play." And rock on.
The nicest thing you can do for yourself this election year is to make a plan for how you'll get to the polls on Election Day (in 2014, it's Nov. 4).
The second nicest thing you can do is share this song! ~*~click the buttons~*~ But you KNOW I'm not gonna tell you what to do ... that's the whole idea behind this and behind voting and behind ... democracy!
You decide.
While you're deciding, I'll just be over here ... probably watching this again. And again. And ... again? OK fine, again.
Oh, and while you're deciding if you want to share this, you might want to *Like* the creators of this video, The Department of Peace on Facebook, too. They seem pretty cool, right?
Joan Jett first released the song featured here, "Bad Reputation," in 1980. This video was created by Sarah Sophie Flicker in 2014. She and her group, The Department Of Peace, keep on churning out great videos like this one, so like their Facebook page and head over to the Department of Peace Tumblr.
The famous face you see in the thumbnail is that of Tavi Gevinson. Here's a list of all the folks who appeared in the video — Hannah Simone from "New Girl," "Chandelier" singer Sia, Carrie Brownstein from "Portlandia," Jemima Kirke from "Girls," Lesley Gore (!), Tavi Gevinson of Rookie Mag, Tracee Ellis Ross from "Black-ish," Natasha Lyonne from "Orange Is the New Black," Alia Shawka from "Arrested Development" ... and so many more.
Now about that voting. It's never too early start planning how you'll get to the polls — you can use TurboVote or CanIVote.org.
