Facebook Creates County-by-County MLB Fandom Map for 2015 Season

With the 2015 MLB season just around the corner, Facebook has taken some data and put together an awesome map that shows which teams are the most popular throughout the United States.


Facebook used the number of "likes" each team had per county to determine each team's popularity:



It should come as no surprise that the New York Yankees have a strong following throughout the country. The Yankees have a plurality of fans in at least one county in 24 states.


Although most MLB teams were able to "win" at least one county, there were a few teams that were shut out. The New York Mets, the Oakland Athletics and the Toronto Blue Jays all failed to nab even a single county in the United States. Of course, the Blue Jays were able to dominate Canada.


Facebook took its data to the next level with the teams that played in the 2014 World Series. For both the San Francisco Giants and the Kansas City Royals, Facebook showed how each team's fanbase has grown from 2014 to 2015:
