Terence Crawford vs. Thomas Dulorme: Winner, Recap and Reaction

After a slow start, Terence "Bud" Crawford (26-0, 18 KO) came away with a sensational sixth-round TKO victory over Thomas Dulorme (22-2) on Saturday night at the University of Texas. The win nabbed the WBO light welterweight championship for Crawford and more admiration for the fast-rising pound-for-pound contender.

Top Rank Boxing has the image highlight:

Early in the fight, Dulorme was out-working Crawford, but it appeared to be part of the latter's strategy. Crawford was banking on Dulorme slowing down, and that proved to be the case.

Around the fourth round, Crawford stared incorporating his jab frequently. That punch would ultimately be the bait for the main course later in the fight. In the sixth round, Crawford faked the jab and landed a left-right combination that hurt Dulorme. The 25-year-old Puerto Rican backed away and took a knee.

He would get up, but Dulorme would go back down twice more in the round. The second time, Dulorme wasn't allowed to continue and Crawford had captured his first world title at 140 pounds. When it was over, HBO analyst and boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. applauded Crawford's performance.

Steve Kim of UCN breaks down Crawford's ability to game plan and adjust.

If there were any questions about whether Crawford would bring his power to 140 pounds, there shouldn't be anymore. Dulorme had come down from welterweight, and is a very large light welterweight.

The future for Crawford is extremely bright. He could look to face any number of top 140-pounders, or he could even entertain moving up again to 147 pounds where there are far more big money fights.

When HBO's Max Kellerman asked Crawford who he'd like to face next, Crawford predictably deferred to promoted Bob Arum and the rest of the Top Rank brain trust. Some would love to see Crawford battle the winner of the second half of the HBO doubleheader featuring Ruslan Provodnikov vs. Lucas Matthysse.

Quite honestly, Crawford's boxing skills was seemingly make him too quick for either man. Nonetheless, both would be solid names to add even more weight to Crawford's increasingly impressive resume.

In any case, fans who have yet to see Crawford in action should make it a point to watch him. He further proves with every bout that he is truly one of the sport's elite fighters.
