Nestled on top of the 180 meter high hill and spread over an area of 700 acres, the humungous structure was the capital of Mewar in the days gone by. The fort owes its name to three historic battles that it stands witness to.

Chittorgarh Fort

When the muslim invaders tried to siege the fort, more than 13,000 women and children fought their way to protect the fort and choose to sacrifice their lives rather than surrendering in a dishonor way. After the siege of Emperor Akbar, the fort was abandoned and it was never resettled again.
