Prescheduling a tweet can be a dangerous business at the best of times, but when one Liverpool fan account banked on a result, it created an unfortunate viral tweet.
@OfficialLFC (despite the name not the official Liverpool account, it should be stressed), posted the message: "TICKET INFO: Be there on HIS birthday for HIS final LFC game. FA Cup final ticket info announced tomorrow."
While that would have doubtless caught the imagination had Liverpool won, Gerrard's team was beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa earlier in the afternoon.
For the moment the tweet remains, with an accompanying apology:
