New Leak: NSA Reportedly Spied on Prominent Muslim-Americans

The NSA and the FBI spied on five prominent Muslim-Americans between 2002 and 2008, according to newly revealed documents provided by Edward Snowden to The Intercept .


A spreadsheet containing 7,485 email addresses includes the emails of five high-profile Muslim-Americans, and reveals that the spying agency has wide latitude when targeting Americans under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, a law that allows the government to obtain warrants to monitor U.S. citizens. This much-anticipated scoop, which had already been delayed by a week, puts into question the U.S. government and the NSA's claim that it only targets legitimate terrorist suspects. Read more...
