England vs. India, 3rd Test: Day 5 Highlights, Scorecard, Report

England ended their 10-match winless streak in Test cricket by beating India by 266 runs in the third Test at the Rose Bowl.

The tourists were dismissed for 178 on the final day in Southampton, with Moeen Ali taking career-best figures of 6-67.

England levelled the five-match series at 1-1 in the process.

India resumed on 112-4 in pursuit of a nominal 445 for victory and lost Rohit Sharma in just the second over of the morning.

Jimmy Anderson induced the outside edge, and Jos Buttler took a routine catch behind the stumps to remove the middle-order batsman for six.

Four overs later, Indian captain MS Dhoni departed in identical fashion, also for six, with Lancashire seamer Anderson picking up his second wicket of the innings and his seventh of the match.

Moeen then picked up two wickets in an over to take England to the brink of victory.

Ravindra Jadeja played on for 15, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar departed for a duck as an inside edge ballooned off the pad and was grasped by the diving Anderson in the gully.

Off-spinner Moeen picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in Test cricket when he bowled Mohammed Shami for a duck with an arm ball, and he completed the victory by pegging back Pankaj Singh's off-stump after he had made nine.

The series resumes at Old Trafford next Thursday.
