Grrl Meets Marketing World: Why Brands Are Suddenly Preaching Fempowerment

That’s the message from some of the country’s heaviest hitting advertisers these days as they churn out a steady stream of fempowerment campaigns. The ads, with their “women rule” themes, are intended to buff the featured brands and sell everything from shampoo and makeup to educational toys and schooling.


Some of the ads have instantly gone viral, such as the recently launched #LikeAGirl from Procter & Gamble’s Always feminine care line, collecting online high-fives along with 10.5 million video views on YouTube in its first four days
