Blogger Caroline Doudet didn't particularly enjoy a restaurant (not pictured) in the southwestern town of Cap Ferret in France. So like many others do daily on Yelp or Foursquare, Doudet wrote a review criticizing the restaurant on her blog.
But because because the blog post was "too prominent" in Google search results, a French judge ruled that Doudet had to pay damages for writing the post after she was sued by the restaurant owner.
The owner of the Il Giardino (the restaurant in question) felt that the due to the post ranking fourth in Google search results of the restaurant, their business was being severely impacted. Along with the fines, the judge ruled that the post's title — "L’endroit Ă Ă©viter au Cap-Ferret : Il Giardino," or "The place to avoid in Cap Ferret: Il Giardino," — should be changed, specifically the "place to avoid" part.
