Lionel Messi's Goal vs. Iran Spares Bettor from $350,000 Loss

There were a lot of happy people when Lionel Messi scored an incredible solo effort in injury time to help Argentina defeat Iran on Saturday.

One bettor was more than just happy as a person—bettor's livelihood, family, children, children's children and apparent lavish spending habits were ecstatic.

Per ESPN, one confident gambler threw down $231,676 in cash on presumed winner Argentina to defeat the written-off Iranians at the Tuscany Casino in Las Vegas. So confident, indeed, that he threw another $120,000 (to win a mere $10,000) on the Argentines.

According to the same piece, It was the most anyone has put down on a World Cup bet in any of the 100 sportsbooks in Nevada.

Of course, Messi spared the man of a colossal financial loss with his late strike.

Messi, if you fancy a trip to Las Vegas in the near future, we know someone who owes you a drink or 10.
