Apple announced on Monday a new initiative called HomeKit to ultimately revolutionize the home and make it significantly smarter.
The platform was introduced during a keynote presentation at the company's Worldwide Developers Conference at the Moscone West center in San Francisco, where the company detailed new features coming to the next-generation software for the iPhone and iPad.
HomeKit has the potential to ignite the home automation (smart home) industry, as well as the so-called Internet of Things world
The platform will allow users to control locks, lights, cameras, doors, thermostats, plugs and switches at the home via an iOS 8 app. It also promises to control individual devices, secure pairing and integration with other products. Read more...
