Jewish community in Paris 'distressed and anxious' amid increased security

PARIS — As darkness began to fall on central Paris Monday evening, there was tension in the air.


The residents of Le Marais, one of the city's historically Jewish neighborhoods, were doing their best to put the bloody events of the past week behind them. But with throngs of armed police marching up and down the boulevards that was easier said than done.



Prime Minister Manuel Valls' warnings of "still present" threats seemed uppermost in many people's minds as some of the 10,000 mobilized security forces fanned out into the streets. Read more...
