Gary Kubiak to Remain with Ravens: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

The Baltimore Ravens announced Sunday that offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak will return in 2015 after he had garnered interest for several head coaching vacancies.

Kubiak commented on staying in Baltimore in an official news release on the Ravens' official website:

It is flattering and humbling to be invited to interview for a number of NFL head coaching positions, and I greatly appreciate these opportunities...But I have decided to stay with the Ravens. [...] This is a special organization and we, like [Head] Coach [John] Harbaugh says, are building something great. I want to be a part of that and contribute in whatever ways I can

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora weighed in on Kubiak's decision:

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, who covered Kubiak during his days as the head coach of the Houston Texans, offered his take on the situation:

Baltimore was dealt a tough 35-31 road loss Saturday against the New England Patriots, but its offense racked up 428 total yards.

A lot of credit goes to Kubiak for helping quarterback Joe Flacco bounce back from a down year and positioning running back Justin Forsett for great success. Flacco's passer rating spiked from 73.1 in 2013 to 91.0 this year, while Forsett went from an unknown to the NFL's fifth-leading rusher.

The Ravens had to have prioritized keeping Kubiak around so the offense can build on its current momentum, but his words also suggest he is content with his job. That should make Baltimore a dangerous playoff contender yet again next season.
