In the grand scheme of things, having a cellphone battery die is a relatively trivial affair. In the heat of the moment, though, few things can be more frustrating/chilling than seeing the battery slowly drain.
Mophie wants to eliminate that problem altogether.
The company's Super Bowl XLIX commercial depicted a fictitious apocalypse caused by God's cellphone battery dying.
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer joked that the video doesn't miss the mark too much:
The special effects are so impressive, it looks like a trailer for the next Michael Bay movie upon first viewing. Mophie wanted to make a big splash during such a widely viewed sporting event, and that's exactly what it did.
Between the grand scale of the ad and the humorous payoff, this will likely be one of the more talked-about Super Bowl commercials Monday morning.
