WWE WrestleMania 31: Best Potential NXT Matches at Showcase PPV

As its popularity grows and grows, discussion will inevitably take place about how the NXT brand can continue to thrive in the WWE .

The WWE has resisted bringing up any heavyweight talent to the main roster over the last couple of months, with an intention to clearly try and allow the brand to stand on its own two feet.

But with WWE WrestleMania 31 rapidly approaching, could the WWE incorporate the hottest new thing in professional wrestling into its most important card of the year?

There's certainly a potential to do so. After all, WrestleMania is the biggest show of the year in length as well as importance, meaning that there could be a slot or two free for NXT to make an impact. There's an argument to suggesting putting some NXT talent in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, but rather than doing that, why not have some standalone NXT matches?

The most logical place to start when exploring that avenue would be with the NXT Championship, of course. Although Kevin Owens appears to be getting dragged toward a feud with Alex Riley at the moment, that might be best if it was held off until after WrestleMania.

What would be great to see is the very best talent in NXT squaring off against each other for Owens' title. Think Owens vs. Finn Balor vs. Sami Zayn vs. Adrian Neville. If the WWE want to open NXT up to a whole new audience, then putting its best talent in a ring together and letting them have 15-20 minutes of action would certainly grab people's attention.

We saw with the Zayn and Neville vs. Tyler Breeze and Tyson Kidd match on Raw last year that the audience was astounded by what it saw. Imagine how impressed fans would be if those four combatants could perform in front of thousands at WrestleMania.

Of those four guys, it is perhaps Zayn and Neville who are best equipped to step up, should they even want to. So with an Owens victory and Zayn and Neville impressing inside the ring, it would be a great platform for everyone to advance their careers.

Aside from that, it would be great to see NXT 's female competitors get a chance to show what they can do on the main stage, too. There's little doubting that one of NXT 's big plus points is the chances it affords its female wrestlers as opposed to the main roster, so let those who don't know about NXT realise that women's wrestling is more talented than they might think.

Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks would be perhaps the perfect match to do that, as there's a legitimate storyline to work with there. However, if the WWE wanted to jump on the recent #GiveDivasAChance trend, the company could exploit it magnificently.

Have the leading NXT Divas, such as Charlotte and Banks, appear on Raw and declare their disgust at the way female wrestlers are regarded on the main roster. Cue the Bella Twins emerging and insisting that main roster Divas are more talented and more glamorous than those "lingering" in NXT . All of a sudden, you have a bragging-rights-style match between two brands, not just four female wrestlers.

What else aside from that? You could easily ask a duo such as Blake and Murphy to step up as tag champions, but in truth, it feels like any NXT match on the WrestleMania card would have to involve the core stars of NXT . Wrestlers like Zayn , Charlotte and Neville are ready to display their talent on the big stage; it's just a matter of whether the WWE will decide to give them a spin.
