Mercedes-Benz gives the newest take on the classic tortoise vs. hare fable in its 2015 Super Bowl commercial, and spoiler alert: The tortoise is a cheater.
He also may have stolen the hare's girlfriend while doing so. Take a look at the ad above.
The car the tortoise stumbles upon inside the magic car factory in the woods? That would be the 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S, which is priced at over $100,000. So, yeah, it better be able to beat a freakin ' rabbit in a race.
Although the ultra-expensive sportscar isn't likely to attract most Super Bowl-watching consumers, Alex Gellert , the CEO of Merkley—the company that made the ad—talked about the importance of entertainment in Super Bowl commercials with Andrew McMains of Adweek :
"There is an expectation among consumers that Super Bowl advertising will be entertaining, that it is at least equal parts entertainment as sell if not slightly more entertaining than sell. They are mini pieces of cinema."
If nothing else, it's certainly an entertaining—and visually pleasing—60 seconds of advertising. This one figures to be a hit on Super Bowl Sunday.
