A Wisconsin man was arrested on Wednesday upon returning to the U.S. from Turkey, after he allegedly attempting to join Islamic State (ISIS) militants in Syria.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Joshua Van Haften, 34, of Madison was arrested at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago. He was charged with attempting to provide material support, in the form of himself, to a foreign terrorist organization
Van Haften, who is a registered sex offender, was scheduled to appear Thursday morning in federal court in Madison. He is believed to have left the U.S. on Aug. 26, 2014, for Istanbul before returning to the U.S. Wednesday. Read more...
