The streaming services that faltered during 'Game of Thrones' premiere

HBO Now, the premium cable channel's newly unveiled standalone service, cleared its first major hurdle Sunday night when it withstood the hordes of Game of Thrones fans tuning in for the season five premiere.


The relatively seamless release of the hugely anticipated episode was an optimistic sign for cord cutters, the growing number of television viewers forgoing cable subscriptions for online platforms.



But viewers who used Sling TV, Dish Network's online-only $20-per-month bundle, on a Roku device to access the service had a far worse experience — as did many of those using HBO Go Read more...
