The Apple Watch will be available to purchase online on April 24, but preorders for the new smartwatch begin on Friday.
As expected, online preorders will begin at the Apple Online Store at 12:01 a.m. PT on Friday for delivery on April 24.
Apple says that it expects customer demand "will exceed our supply at launch" so the company is taking an unprecedented step of only selling the Apple Watch online during the "initial launch period."
It's not clear how long the "initial launch period" will last — and it is possible that some Apple stores will have limited availability of the Apple Watch, but the message is clear: Don't line up for an Apple Watch. Instead, order it online. Read more...
