Danny Green Breaks Spurs' Single-Season Record for 3-Pointers Made

San Antonio Spurs guard Danny Green sunk his 191st three-point shot of the season during the fourth quarter of Sunday's 107-91 win over the Phoenix Suns, setting a new single-season franchise record for most three-pointers made, according to the team's official Twitter account.

The record-setting shot was Green's third successful three-pointer of the night and gave the Spurs an 84-70 lead with 9:33 remaining in the contest.

The 27-year-old former North Carolina Tar Heel finished with 12 points, two rebounds, three assists, a block, a steal and two turnovers in 31 minutes, an otherwise ordinary performance.

The previous record-holder was Chuck Person, who made 190 three-pointers for the Spurs during the 1995-96 season despite averaging just 10.9 points per game. While he attempted 27.7 percent of his shots from beyond the arc throughout a 13-year NBA career, Person upped that number to a whopping 65.7 percent in '95-'96.

Green has attempted 59.5 percent of his shots from three-point range through his first six seasons, with the mark sitting a bit higher at 61.9 percent in 2014-15 alone.

Of course, Green is no oddity in the modern NBA, as it seems every team has at least one or two players who attempt more than half of their shots from beyond the arc.
