Cable companies launch the first of many lawsuits against net neutrality

When the FCC passed its new Internet regulations in February, there were a variety of reactions: Advocates for net neutrality rejoiced; telecom companies cringed; and lawyers, well, they started counting their potential fees.


The new net neutrality regulations are only two months old, but they are the subject of numerous lawsuits from some of the biggest representatives of the cable and telecommunications industries


This week, the major lobbying firms that represent Internet service providers, cable companies and wireless providers leapt to challenge the rules. The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) and CTIA-The Wireless Association both announced on Tuesday the filing of legal challenges. USTelecom announced theirs on Monday.
