After an indifferent regular season that saw them finish third in the Central Division, the Chicago Blackhawks are back in the playoffs in pursuit of their third Stanley Cup in the last six seasons.
They begin their journey with a matchup against the Nashville Predators, a team that was in contention for the Presidents' Trophy before struggling down the stretch. Nashville went 0-4-2 to close the season.
Head coach Peter Laviolette has built a fast-paced, attacking team in Nashville, and the Preds will have to be at their best to keep up with the Blackhawks. Chicago should get a lift in this series from the return of Patrick Kane, who has been out since late February with a broken clavicle.
