Amazon Echo now lets you control lights and appliances with your voice

Amazon's Echo just took a major step towards becoming the ultimate smart home controller.


Amazon announced on Wednesday its Bluetooth speaker/voice-assistant wonder tube now works with WeMo and Philips Hue's smart lights and switches; you can now use voice controls to dim the lights and turn on appliances.



Echo-compatible devices include WeMo's Switch, Insight Switch and Light Switch, and Hue's A19, Lux, BR30, Bloom and LightStrip lights.


Once you've got the Echo connected to your WeMo or Hue gadgets, you'll be able to say things like "Alexa, turn on the coffee maker" or "Alexa, turn on the hallway light" or "Alexa, dim the living room lights to 20%." Read more...
