Massive power outage hits downtown Detroit

A power outage hit swaths of downtown Detroit on Tuesday morning, leaving offices, schools and government buildings in the dark.

About 100 buildings reported outages, and every fire department in Detroit was reportedly affected.

Workers evacuated buildings and poured onto city streets and the Detroit People Mover came to a halt as DTE Energy, which provides power to the city, worked to determine the cause of the outage.
