Samsung's ultra-thin ATIV Book 9 laptop hands-on: Goodbye, fan noise

It's a sad fact of laptop life: any time you push the processor — when streaming an HD movie from Netflix, say — the computer's fan will start whirring away


That aural annoyance may finally be going away now that fanless laptops like the Samsung ATIV Book 9 are making their debut.


The ATIV Book 9 — the latest in Samsung's thin Series 9 laptops — is one of the first to pack an Intel Core M processor. The point of the Core M is to bid good riddance to that noisy fan, all while maintaining the level of performance and battery life expected from today's recent PCs (those based on fourth-generation "Haswell" Core processors).
