Los Angeles Police have detained one person and are still searching for a second after two officers were the targets of gunfire in a south Los Angeles neighborhood Sunday night in an unprovoked attack, LAPD said.

The officers reported that they heard gunshots and saw muzzle flashes — the burst of light that accompanies a gunshot — as several rounds were fired at their patrol car around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, LAPD spokeswoman Officer Liliana Preciado told Mashable. At least one of the officers returned fire, but no injuries were reported.
