Airplanes, like cars, require regular maintenance checks; but they're usually done behind closed hangar doors.

Emirates airline posted a time-lapse of the 3-C Check maintenance process on an Airbus A380. According to the video's description, it's "the largest maintenance check on any aircraft," and essentially requires the entire plane to be disassembled
