Eagles Become 1st Team to Overcome Double-Digit Deficits in Each of 1st 3 Games

In beating the Washington Redskins by a score of 37-34 on Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles became the first team in NFL history to win its first three games after facing a double-digit deficit in each contest, per ESPN Stats & Info.

Sunday's comeback was the least impressive of the bunch, as the Eagles had little problem erasing a 17-7 Redskins lead.

Following the second of rookie wide receiver Jordan Matthews' two 11-yard touchdowns in the second quarter, the Eagles carried a 21-20 lead into halftime. They'd never look back, with the Redskins failing to hold a lead from that point forward.

In Week 1, the Eagles shockingly trailed the Jacksonville Jaguars 17-0 at the half, only to close the game on a 34-0 run for the 34-17 victory.

Then the Eagles fell behind the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2, trailing 17-6 at halftime and 20-6 in the third quarter. Said lead was quickly erased when the Eagles took advantage of a fumble by Colts running back Trent Richardson to score a pair of touchdowns in under two minutes.

Per CSN Philadelphia, Eagles cornerback Cary Williams attributed the slow starts to head coach Chip Kelly's demanding practices, saying after Sunday's game, "I'm burnt out. Burnt out. I'm not the only guy that feels burnt out."

According to Phil Sheridan of ESPN.com, Williams and Kelly met Monday, and Kelly said he has no issues with the veteran cornerback. However, Kelly didn't provide any indication that he'll lighten the practice load, instead admitting that the team asks its players to do a lot of running.

The approach seems to have worked thus far as the Eagles head into a Week 4 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, another team known for its demanding head coach.
