City's Frank Lampard Scores Goal Against 39th Different Premier League Club

Upon netting an 85th-minute equalizer in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea, midfielder Frank Lampard of Manchester City became the first player to score a goal against 39 different clubs in the English Premier League, per the league's official Twitter account.

On loan from New York City FC, Lampard made his second appearance in a City uniform count, despite not entering the game until the 78th minute as a substitute.

With City down to 10 men following defender Pablo Zabaleta's 65th-minute dismissal, Lampard hammered a right-footed shot past Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois off a short cross from Manchester City midfielder James Milner.

Of course, the equalizing strike carried some added significance, as Lampard's first goal for City came against the team with which he spent the last 13 years.

Lampard, who had previously played for West Ham United from 1995 to 2001 and was briefly loaned to Swansea City in 1995 and 1996, is Chelsea's all-time leading goalscorer in all competitions with 211 marks for The Blues.

According to Inside World Football, Andy Cole scored against 38 EPL teams, with Alan Shearer (37) and Teddy Sheringham (35) the only other players to reach 35.

Per Bryan Armen Graham of Mic News, only 47 different clubs have ever played in the EPL.
