The Ottawa Redblacks are making their signature look pretty unique, as plaid helmets aren't seen on the football field very often.
Ottawa unveiled its new look via Twitter on Monday. The uniforms have an interesting look, but the helmets are what catch the eyes.
That's a pretty creative way to get both red and black on the helmet.
Unfortunately, the plaid helmets will not be ready when the Redblacks wear the uniforms for the first time on Sunday, per Gord Holder of OttawaCitizen.com: "Redblacks players will wear Signature uniforms for the first time in Sunday’s home game against the Calgary Stampeders, although their red and black plaid helmets won’t be available because of problems with the application of the colour design."
CFL teams will wear their Signature uniforms twice per season, but it's unknown as to when the Redblacks will wear the uniforms again. Hopefully the helmets will be ready when they wear the uniforms the second time.
