Arizona Cardinals vs. Minnesota Vikings: Live Score and Analysis

Welcome to Week 2 of the 2014 preseason! Though this game does not count toward regular-season records, it is dearly important for a number of young Arizona Cardinals. How they perform at the University of Minnesota Saturday night could be the difference in some players making the final cut or being a final cut.

Provided here will be all the Cardinals analysis you could hope for as the team takes on the Minnesota Vikings. It's the preseason and the first live blog of the campaign for me, but I fully expect perfection tonight as we watch the game.

One thing to note: Adrian Peterson will sit out for the Vikings, according to Chris Tomasson of TwinCities.com. It makes sense; there is no reason to chance the best running back in the NFL getting hurt in a meaningless game.

Peterson sitting out means we'll likely see plenty of one of my favorite rookie running backs this year, Jerick McKinnon. He served as the option quarterback at Georgia Southern University but attempted only 81 passes in four seasons. He did average 6.68 yards per carry and score 32 touchdowns on the ground his final two seasons, however.

McKinnon is a short but stocky back who has solid balance and good vision. He could develop into a long-term option after Peterson retires, but that's probably a long way off. It's more likely McKinnon plays in Minnesota for three or four years, then takes his talents elsewhere just like Toby Gerhart just did this past offseason.

Well, kickoff draws near. Let's enjoy ourselves tonight, yes?
